Using Meditation to Bring You Greater Confidence

Many might find it shocking that meditation can be used to boost confidence. The truth is that meditation can be used to strengthen any emotion or skill.

When you meditate, you bring a great amount of awareness into your mind. In the moment of meditation you hold the power to decide exactly what your life is all about. The past and the future melt away, and all that’s left is you. So when you actively decide to boost confidence, you will!

Bringing Past Feelings Into The Present

The first thing you should do is familiarize yourself with the feelings associated with confidence. Take a moment to recall different times in your life that you felt especially confident. How exactly did you feel?

For example, maybe you remember a time when you entered a sports competition. You trained hard and you believed in yourself. How did you feel right before you started?

Let’s say that you now have to lead a group of people at work. You’re feeling a little scared about it because all of the details are not falling into place as you’d like. Meditate on the feelings of confidence. Bring the positive emotions from past successes into your present and approach your problem with those positive feelings instead.

Picturing The Future

In order to strengthen your meditation skills to encourage greater confidence, it may help to picture future circumstances turning out in your favor. When you sit down to meditate, be very detailed in your visions. Use the confident feelings you know you have and place them into the situations you’re envisioning.

This activity is a good idea to try if you feel that negative emotions are overtaking you. However, for the most part you should be concentrating on the present moment and taking life one breath at a time.

Staying In The Now

Sometimes you’ll feel negative emotions, the opposite of confidence, when you’re overwhelmed with problems. This is when it’s especially important to stay in the now.

When you meditate on each breath and focus on the present moment, you’ll realize how very simple life is among the complexity. You’ll be able to calm down. With a calm head you can then reach for the confidence you seek.

Remember these tips as you meditate:

* Find a place where you can be alone with your thoughts.
* Sit in an upright position with good posture.
* Fight the urge to take a nap or go to bed.
* Take deep inhales and long exhales.
* Pause in between breaths.
* Repeat a mantra or affirmation to yourself as you breathe in and out.

Meditating Often

Meditation is an art that takes practice. Just like anything else, when you practice often you’ll get better at it. You shouldn’t just use the art of meditation when you feel that you need it. Strive to make meditation a part of your every day routine!

Soon you’ll find that you won’t have to try as hard to reach your meditative state. Understanding and confidence will become part of your life and you’ll feel a greater power within.

It’s easy to talk and read about meditation, but it’s quite another experience to do it.

In theory it sounds like such an easy and delightful practice. The truth is that you’re likely to get bored at first and you’ll probably make excuses about whether or not you really have the time for it. Strive to remain disciplined and keep up with your practice. When you do, you’ll experience a true inner peace and confidence like never before.

How To Use Magnetics To Get What You Want

Ever  notice how a chronic complainer always seems to have something to complain about? Or how certain people always seem sunny and bright, no matter what hardships they’re dealing with, as if the weight of all their troubles seems to just slip right off them? What’s that all about?

:”When it rains, it pours,” the proverbial ‘they’ say; why is that? Why does everything seem to go from bad to worse for some people while for others nothing ever seems to go wrong? In a word: magnetism. Everyone has a magnetic personality. How about that?

In all our endless trials and tribulations to get what we want in life, the solution – or maybe more aptly put: the method – is startlingly simple:

Like attracts like.

That’s it. Whatever energy we put into out into the world is precisely the energy we get back. And having all your heart’s desires fulfilled doesn’t get any harder than that.

If you put out to the world that nothing goes your way, that everything you touch turns to (insert expletive here), that good things happen to other people but not to you, then that’s exactly what you’re going to get: more circumstances justifying those beliefs.

But if instead you put out to the world that you can handle any challenges that come your way, that you can do anything you put your mind to, that love is the answer to every question, that you deserve to be happy, healthy, and fulfilled, then everywhere you turn, that is just what you’ll find.

One way to look at it is that the Universe (or God, or whatever other name you choose to give to the all-present, all-powerful, creative force underlying everything) wants you to have what you want. And when you put out certain vibrations into the Universe, it takes those as messages from you that that’s what you want created.

The Universe is there to serve you. It will produce for you whatever evidence you need to justify the world as you see it. Therefore, if you see the world as a dark, cold, and unfriendly place, that’s exactly what you’ll get. But by the same token, if you instead choose to see the world as a loving, giving, and abundant place, then that’s the world you’ll get.

Why doesn’t everybody do this then? How is it that so many people can use “logic” and evidence from their own lives to argue against it? And “why do bad things happen to good people, then?”

Because the evidence we speak of does not necessarily come in the form or the time frame we expect. (In fact usually it does not). And because proof must follow belief, not the other way around. We can’t wait until we see this phenomenon proven before we take is a truth. We must make the brave choice to see it that way first, and then watch the proof snowball in.

We can’t control situations, but we can control our inner state, and it is this – our internal mental/emotional/spiritual state, our perceptions, interpretations, and attitudes – that the Universe mirrors to give us what it thinks we want, namely: more of that same negative or positive energy.

In a very real way, we are magnets that draw to us more of whatever vibrations we emit. It can be argued that we do not live in the same world as everyone else, that we live each in our own world, shaped by our expectations and beliefs. If your expectations and beliefs are positive ones, then you will find circumstances bending over backwards to prove you right. If, however, you persist on painting everything with a negative brush, the Universe will only be too happy to oblige.

Discovering Happiness in Your Life

Happiness is a choice. It’s true. You can choose to let life’s circumstances get you down or you can choose to be happy no matter what challenges life brings.

Happiness is already within each of us and we are born to be naturally happy! For example, have you ever noticed how infectious a baby’s giggle is? So why is it that, as we get older, we forget where to find happiness within ourselves and, instead, allow outside forces to determine our happiness?

You can determine your own happiness by following these simple strategies:

  • When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. Cliché, I know, however it’s so true. You don’t have to let life’s troubles and problems get you down. Yes, there will always be troubles because no one is perfect, but you can choose your reaction to situations. Look at the positive side of things and work hard to see the good in people and circumstances.
  • Find something you love to do and do it. Do you have a lifelong dream or desire? If so, start working toward it. Taking baby steps towards a dream or goal will help you feel like you’re accomplishing something. You’ll find drive and determination to reach that goal when it’s something you love to do.
  • Do you have a gift or talent you’re not using? One reason so many people are unhappy is that they’re not doing what they’re called to do with their God-given talents. Each and every one of us has a purpose in life. You have natural gifts and talents to help you achieve your purpose, so use your gifts effectively!
  • When you’re feeling down, don’t wallow in your sorrows alone; do something about it. Call a friend who you know is positive and cheerful. Talk about your feelings and listen to their advice. So often, people allow themselves to go deeper and deeper into self-pity or depression because they think it has to be that way. The truth is, you don’t have to be sad and you shouldn’t be. You can decide to be happy. You just have to make up your minds to do so.
  • Think about all the things you have to be thankful for. Often you get so caught up in what’s wrong with your life that you forget to look at what’s right and good. Take a step back and reflect on your life. How far have you come from, say, six months ago?
    • Do you have children or family to be thankful for? Yes, they may not be everything we’d like them to be, but imagine life without them. Now, be thankful that you have them in your life.
    • Do you have a job? Maybe it’s not your dream job, but in today’s economy, those of us who have a job should be thankful for it.
    • When you’re feeling down, journal your thoughts and feelings. Often you’ll find that just getting your feelings down on paper will allow you to work through them, helping you to feel better about yourself and your beautiful life!

If you’ve been prone to look at life negatively, then you’ll have to put more effort into seeing and choosing happiness. But don’t let that stop you from being happy! You, too, can learn to be happy.

Practice the steps above and train your mind to focus intensely on the positives. When you feel a negative thought coming on, or your mind gravitates toward the negative, learn to recognize it, stop it in its tracks, and then start thinking happier thoughts.

Starting from this moment onward, make the conscious choice to be happy!
